An Anatomy of Authoritarian Parallels...

Part III – Women: Wombs as Weapons

An Anatomy of Authoritarian Parallels...

The Domestic Battlefield…

Authoritarian men share a recurring nightmare: women who do not need them. Independent women terrify dictators because they embody what he cannot tolerate; autonomy, self-direction, refusal to kneel.

So he builds cages. Not iron cages, at least not at first, but cultural cages. “Tradition.” “Family values.” “God’s plan.” Behind these bullshit slogans lies the simple message: “Women, know your place”.

Hitler codified it. Trump tweets it, appoints it, mocks it into being. The same disease, separated by decades. One wrapped in swastikas, the other in red hats.

So what happens when half the population is reduced from citizens to wombs on legs? Spoiler: it’s not good for the women, and it’s not good for the men either, though they’ll be the last to admit it.

Wombs for the Reich…

The Nazi obsession with women was less about partnership and more about production quotas. Women were not people; they were reproductive assets.

  • The Law for the Encouragement of Marriage (1933): Newlyweds got a 1,000 mark loan. Every child they produced knocked 250 marks off the debt. Have four kids, your loan is forgiven, but your freedom isn’t. You are now a state-owned uterus.
  • The Mother’s Cross: Because nothing screams “equality” like a fertility medal. Bronze for four children, Silver for six, Gold for eight or more. Mothers were turned into soldiers, their battlefields bedrooms and kitchens. Imagine lining up at a parade where the nation applauds your ovaries.
  • Employment Bans: Women were systematically pushed out of professional life. Doctors, teachers, lawyers - dismissed. “Kinder, Küche, Kirche” (“Children, Kitchen, Church”) became the official female curriculum. A doctor with a scalpel became a mother with a ladle.
  • Hereditary Laws: The Hereditary Farm Law made sure “Aryan” farms couldn’t be repossessed. Translation: women’s fertility was legally shackled to land, blood, and soil.
  • Appearance Regulations: Nazis discouraged makeup, slim bodies, modern clothes. The ideal German woman was peasant-like: braided hair, flat shoes, hips wide enough to carry the entire nation.

The paradox? By 1939, 2.4 million more women were employed than in 1933. Because ideology always crashes against reality. Hitler needed their cheap labor, so women were shoved into factories by necessity; even as propaganda insisted their true calling was diapers and dishes.

Authoritarian ideology doesn’t care about truth. It cares about control. If women must both breed and weld, so be it, as long as they don’t get uppity about equality.

American Womb Battlefield…

Trump didn’t invent misogyny, he franchised it, monetized it, and is still profiting off of it. His regime, his amoral judges, and his spineless surrogates all circle the same goal: shrink women’s horizons until the only thing left is the cradle.

  • Roe v. Wade Overturned: Trump’s Supreme Court picks handed him the trophy: reproductive rights gutted. Entire states now operate under forced-pregnancy regimes. No medals like the Nazis, but the logic is the same: women are valued for what they produce, not what they choose.
  • J.D. Vance and the “Cat Ladies”: Vance, Trump’s heir apparent, and a hatchling of Peter Thiel, sneers at childless women as societal failures. Translation: if you’re not making babies, you’re defective. He doesn’t care that women might not want children. His real point is that your value is defined by your womb.
  • Enforcers in Heels: Pam Bondi, Laura Loomer, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert, Karoline Leavitt, Kristi Noem, Tulsi Gabbard, Jeanine Pirro, Kayleigh McEnany, Amy Coney Barrett, Lara Trump. Women elevated not for independence, but for obedience. They are props, ornaments, validators of the cage. Authoritarianism loves nothing more than a woman who disciplines other women.
  • Workplace Hostility: Equal pay, maternity leave, harassment protections; dismissed as “too woke” or “too costly.” The Trump ethos is simple: the corporation matters, the worker does not. And if the worker is a woman? Even less.
  • Obsession with Appearance: Hitler’s women were meant to look like peasants. Trump’s women are meant to look like trophies. Both are costumes for submission, one rustic, the other plastic. Either way, it’s still a leash.

And unlike Hitler, Trump doesn’t hand out crosses for fertility. He hands out insults. Cat ladies. Nasty women. Fat pigs. The cruelty is not incidental, it’s the point. Public humiliation becomes the leash.

The Philosophy of Misogyny…

Why do dictators always come back to the same script? Why obsess over women?

Because women embody what they cannot stand: freedom they cannot control.

  • Control reproduction, and you control the future. A dictator can lose every election, but if he controls the next generation, he wins tomorrow.
  • Weak men lash out at strong women. Better to cage them than face them. Patriarchy is the coward’s answer to inadequacy.
  • Dictatorship is fragile masculinity with a police force. The authoritarian sees women’s autonomy as a mirror of his own impotence, and shatters it.
  • By idealizing “traditional femininity,” they create a fantasy of control. It is easier to romanticize submission than to admit women are equal.

The irony, of course, is that societies that cage women cripple themselves. They cut their own intellectual, cultural, and economic strength in half. But authoritarian men never notice. They’re too busy guarding their egos.

A Necessary Scalpel…

  • Hitler gave out medals for fertility. Trump gives out insults for infertility. Imagine the awards ceremony: one woman gets a cross, the other gets called a “nasty woman” on Twitter. Both are tokens of contempt.
  • Hitler demanded sturdy hips and braided hair. Trump demands bleached teeth and Fox News grease. Both men are describing livestock. The difference is one prefers dairy cows, the other pageant queens.
  • Hitler pushed women out of universities. Trump’s base of flying monkeys insists women should “study homemaking.” Both are terrified of a woman with books, because books are harder to silence than babies.
  • Hitler’s motto was “Kinder, Küche, Kirche.” Trump’s might as well be “Ivanka, Ivanka, Ivanka.”

Let’s be clear. Hitler reduced women to wombs and workers, dressed in peasant clothes and decorated for their litters. Trump reduces women to ornaments and enemies, mocked if childless, praised if complicit, discarded if disobedient.

Both deny women full humanity. Both deny women choice. Both see women not as citizens, but as functions: breeder, ornament, enforcer.

And here’s the ugliest truth: both men are terrified of women. Terrified of their minds, their autonomy, their refusal to play along. Hitler caged them with laws. Trump cages them with courts and humiliation, when he’s not raping them.

The authoritarian doesn’t respect women. He fears them. And fear always breeds control.

The Third Echo…

The echo between Hitler and Trump is not in policy detail, but in principle: both see women as threats to be neutralized. One draped them in medals, the other drags them through mud.

The Nazis rewarded women for submission. Trump punishes women for defiance. The result is the same: half the population stripped of citizenship, reduced to roles chosen by frightened men.

So here is the question, and it is meant to sting:

  • When your body is legislated, do you resist, or do you adjust?
  • When your rights are stripped, do you fight, or do you tell yourself it’s “tradition”?
  • When men in power demand your silence, do you break it, or do you bow?

Because the authoritarian’s dream is not simply to cage women. It is to teach them to decorate the bars, call it culture, and pass it on to their daughters.

And if that isn’t a nightmare worth resisting, what is?
